Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki gives update on trialist Luke Fleurs
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki has provided the latest update on the trialist Luke Fleurs but remained guarded on whether the club is planning to sign the defender.
Ntseki was asked at the Carling Knockout Cup draw to provide an update on the Fleurs who’s been trial with Chiefs since September. The former Bafana Bafana coach stated the 23-year-old center-back is still training with his charges.
He also revealed that the former SuperSport United defender has been doing well since he started his trials.
Fleurs’ contract with SuperSport was terminated a week before the PSL transfer window closed on 22 September 2023 and he has been trying to impress Ntseki and Chiefs management.
Coincidentally, the Cape Town-born star is well known by Ntseki as the two have worked together when Ntseki was in charge of the South Africa Under-17.
Moreover, this is not the first time Chiefs are interested in signing Fleurs. Last season, they tried to secure the defender’s signature, but he opted to renew his contract with three-time PSL champions.
Ntseki says Amakhosi have yet to contact the player’s representatives to inform them about the club’s decision on the player.
MOLEFI NTSEKI SAYS CHIEFS HAVE YET TO DECIDE ON WHETHER TO SIGN FLEURS
“Luke Fleurs has been doing very well and the reason we brought him closer to us is to do a proper assessment,” said Ntseki.
“We all know that Luke is a quality player. But I think the process is going and sooner we will be able to be in touch with him and his representatives and that is where the decision will be made.
“But one thing I can say is that he (Luke) is still training with us. Whether we will sign him or not is still a bit of classified information. But the young man is still with us.”
