Steve Komphela provides gauge of Swallows’ progress since taking charge
Moroka Swallows coach Steve Komphela has provided a gauge of his team’s progress after taking charge ahead of the current DStv Premiership season.
In what was an abrupt move, Komphela left his First-team coach role at Mamelodi Sundowns to join the Soweto giants. He went back to being the sole head coach as he was before he joined the Brazilians in 2020.
Prior to his Chloorkop switch, he was spearheading the KZN outfit Golden Arrows.
It might be still early in the season, but the 56-year-old has had a fair start with the Dube Birds. On the log standings, they sit fourth with 14 points after eight matches having recorded four wins, two draws and two defeats.
STEVE KOMPHELA BELIEVES SWALLOWS ARE ON RIGHT TRACK
Komphela says they are on the right track as they’ve managed to pass the three stages of their process; “test, trust and confidence”.
“We were talking about first we have to be tested. To be trusted and I think we’ve passed the test. Are we trusted? To an extent yes,” said Komphela.
“After testing and trusting, there’s an element of confidence. Are people confident in what we’re doing?
“When we build from the back people were still sitting at the edges of the chairs but then they started believing because it started to show. So there is confidence.
MOROKA SWALLOWS WORKING ON THE LAST PHASE OF THE PROCESS
Komphela stated that they are now working on the final phase of the process which is the belief. Once there is belief, he trusts the results will start coming.
“Now we need to move to a level of belief, where we say irrespective the outcome of the match there’s a strong belief that these people are capable to win matches.
“We need to get to the level of belief. The minute we are in belief then faith will come overtime.
“We’ve just gone past the level of the test and the trust and the confidence. When there’s belief miracles happen, we only pray for belief,” Komphela added.
