Former PSL star warns out of form Knox Mutizwa
A former PSL star has given a stern warning to Golden Arrows striker Knox Mutizwa, who has been a pale shadow of himself in the DStv Premiership this season.
The Zimbabwean international has had a slow start, as he has managed four appearances in eight matches.
Two of his appearances were, however, from the bench. This is despite his decent achievements last season. The striker, Knox Mutizwa, scored eight goals in all PSL competitions in the previous campaign.
WHY KNOX MUTIZWA HAS FALLEN DOWN THE PERKING ORDER AT GOLDEN ARROWS
And even coach Mabhuti Khenyeza suggested that Mutizwa is not giving his all, which is why he has lost his Golden Arrows first-team place.
“We’ve created competition since the pre-season. We sat down with the players and told them that if you don’t fight, you can’t get into the team.
“You can see our main striker from last season isn’t here because I don’t think he’s pushing enough.
“In football, you have to have all the qualities, you can’t be good only on the ball and lack off the ball.
“They know it’s a fair and healthy competition,” Mabhuti Khenyeza said as quoted by Sowetan Live.
WHAT THE FORMER PSL STAR SAID ABOUT KNOX MUTIZWA
As a result, Knox Mutizwa’s compatriot, Edelbert Dinha has given him a stern warning, saying he could be offloaded.
“It’s so difficult in a striker’s life. The moment you stop scoring, it’s easy to lose your place in the team,” Dinha told FARPost.
“He has to pull up his socks otherwise he may end up losing his place in the team. Golden Arrows have been doing well. It’s at this point that anyone can find it difficult to break back into the team.
“I have to be honest with him [Knox Mutizwa]. He must, at all costs, pull up his socks and find his form because the competition is real.
“He just needs one goal to find the much-needed confidence. For me, he remains one of the most underrated strikers in the South African league.”
Mutizwa is competing for the first team jersey with Ryan Moon, Lungelo Nguse, Gbagbo Junior Magbi and Nhlanhla Zwane.
As it stands, Lungelo Nguse leads the team’s Golden Arrows goal charts with two goals to his name.
