Chivaviro keen to end goal drought at Chiefs

Ranga Chivaviro is keen to end his goal drought at Kaizer Chiefs as they welcome AmaZulu to FNB Stadium at the weekend.

Amakhosi will lock horns with Usuthu on their turf in the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup on Saturday, 21 October 2023.

The 30-year-old forward, Chivaviro, signed for the Glamour Boys from Marumo Gallants at the beginning of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign. He penned a two-year deal with an option to extend for a further year.

Chivaviro has played seven games across all competitions for the Soweto giants thus far.

Sadly, the talented striker has yet to open his account in those seven matches he has featured for the Molefi Ntseki-coached side.

RANGA CHIVAVIRO ON GOAL DROUGHT

Meanwhile, Chivaviro has said that he needs to start chipping in with goals to take some pressure off his back.

“You know, I’m looking to score my first goal. And yes, there’s pressure, but as an experienced player these kinds of things do happen in football,” said Chivaviro.

“It’s only up to me to keep my mind level up and understand that there are rough patches. I’m just waiting for that opportunity for me to start scoring.

“I believe once it starts happening it’s going to be a continuous thing. But for now, as much as it is painful, [that I] haven’t found the back of the net, I’m patient with myself. I understand these kinds of things happen. I’m just patiently waiting to open my account for Kaizer Chiefs.”

CHIVAVIRO ON CARLING BLACK LABEL KNOCKOUT CUP

The striker went on to state how important it would be to win the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup, and everyone at the club knows what’s at stake.

“Of course the fans want us to win the cup. I think us as players we want it even more,” he added.

“With the Carling Black Label Knockout starting now is also another opportunity for us to try to get trophy glory days back here at the club.

“We feel as players it’s an opportunity to end the drought, and it’s what we want to do to find ourselves in that final and winning a cup to lift everyone’s spirit.”
