Mosimane faces Thulani Serero’s ex-club in search of relief
Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is set to face Thulani Serero’s former paymasters as his side Al Wahda aims to get some relief after two straight defeats.
Prior to the international break, coach Pitso Mosimane and his men suffered two straight defeats to Shabab Al-Ahli and Baniyas FC.
They were beaten 3-1 by Shabab Al-Ahli before Baniyas FC rubbed more pain onto their wounds after handing them a 2-1 defeat.
Both matches were in the United Arab Emirates Pro League. This means Mosimane’s side has only registered two wins in their five outings so far this season.
And they dropped to ninth position on the log standings with six points on their tally. However, Pitso Mosimane will be hoping to bounce back when action resumes after the brief break.
WHEN DOES PITSO MOSIMANE FACE SERERO’S EX-CLUB?
They have not won the league title since the 2009/10 season, which was the fourth in their history.
The former Bafana Bafana coach has the mandate to win the league title with the UAE club.
He is presented with an opportunity to go near earning Al Wahda a piece of silverware and some relief when they face Al Jazira, who are Thulani Serero’s former paymasters.
Al Wahda and Al Jazira will face off in the United Arab Emirates League Cup quarter-final on Friday evening.
Last time out, they beat Al Jazira 2-1 on 28 August. And Mosimane will hope his men repeat that same feat to reach the semi-finals.
Mosimane knows he will need to start producing good results if he wants to challenge for honours this season.
Meanwhile, their next league assignment is a home match against Al-Ittihad Kalba on 27 October. Al-Ittihad won their previous match and will hope to remain on a winning trajectory.
