‘It will be a gradual process’ : Ntseki on Dolly’s return to full fitness

Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki has opened up on skipper Keagan Dolly’s return to full fitness saying it will be a gradual process.

Dolly has been on the sidelines for almost six months after suffering an ACL injury [knee injury] last season. His last game of the campaign was against Sekhukhune United in April where they lost 1-0.

Last time out against Cape Town City FC, the 30-year-old made his first DStv Premiership appearance of the season. He came in as a second-half substitute as Chiefs suffered a 1-0 defeat.

Upon his introduction to the field of play, Dolly made an immediate impact. However, he couldn’t help his team get the desired result.

According to the former Bafana Bafana coach, Dolly will get more game time as the season goes on.

Ntseki also highlighted the importance of building match fitness and an understanding of the team’s style of play.

“I think it’s a build-up, we are fully aware that Keagan Dolly was out for the last five months due to ACL injury,” said Ntseki.

“So I think in the last game we gave him 30 minutes and I think it will be a build-up in terms of getting match fitness and getting more playing minutes. Also having a very clear understanding of the team and how we play as a team.

“But I think he’s a professional, highly talented and highly experienced so I think we’ll see more of him over time whenever he’s available for selection.”

The former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker is in line to make his second appearance of the campaign when the Soweto giants host KZN side AmaZulu FC in the Carling Knockout Cup, Round of 16 clash.

The two sides will lock horns at FNB Stadium on Saturday, kickoff is set for 6 pm.
