Ekstein and Co eye upset against Chiefs in Carling Knockout

AmaZulu FC attacking midfielder Hendrick Ekstein has revealed the weapon they’re banking on to cause an upset when they face his former club Kaizer Chiefs in the newly launched Carling Knockout Cup.

AmaZulu will travel to FNB Stadium, Johannesburg on Saturday and kickoff is set for 6pm. The two familiar foes will battle it out in the Round of 16 for a spot in the quarter-finals.

This will be the second time that the two teams lock horns this season.

They’ve already met in a league encounter in August and rampant Amakhosi thrashed their opponents 3-0. Therefore, heading into the cup game, the KZN side will be out for revenge.

HENDRICK EKSTEIN AND CO. BANKING ON INTERNATIONAL BREAK PREPARATIONS

Ekstein and his teammates will be banking on their FIFA international break preparations. Usuthu were busy with friendly matches.

They played three games against provincial rivals; the trio of Maritzburg United, Richards Bay FC and Royal AM.

“I think this [FIFA international] break is a good thing for us. We have been preparing and I think we have been preparing very well,” Ekstein told the club’s media department.

AMAZULU AND KAIZER CHIEFS STILL TRYING TO SETTLE THIS SEASON

Both teams haven’t had a good start to the new season with new coaches in charge; Pablo Franco and Molefi Ntseki respectively.

AmaZulu are 11th on the DStv Premiership log after accumulating 10 points from eight games

On the other hand, the Soweto giants are a point ahead of Usuthu, occupying the eighth spot after nine outings.
