Komphela singles out Richards Bay’s dangermen ahead of Carling Knockout tie

Moroka Swallows head coach Steve Komphela addressing the media.

Moroka Swallows coach Steve Komphela has named Richards Bay players who could cause an upset for them when the two sides meet on Sunday in the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup tie.

The showdown between the Dube Birds and Natal Rich Boyz will take place at King Zwelithini Stadium. The kick-off will start at 15:00.

The former Kaizer Chiefs mentor reckons Richards Bay are a very strong side with quality players.

Komphela pointed out their attacking speed Somila Ntsundwana and the brilliance of Justice Figuareido, Sinethemba Mngomezulu, and the experience of Letsie Koapeng and Sanele Barns as their major threats

STEVE KOMPHELA ON FACING RICHARDS BAY

“They are very direct side and they pose serious threats. One of the players who really gave us a hard time was Somila Ntsundwana. He’s quite powerful, good on one-on-ones, and the profile physically gives him the opportunity to be more of a central attacker,” said Komphela.

“But they prefer to play him on the left. He drifts inside given the opportunity. I enjoyed the one-on-one between him and Keenan Phillips when we played against them.

“I guess Keenan would say listen, I’m still here and I’m still standing. Can you bring it on again?”

The 56-year-old coach continued: “And again, whether they would have Justice Figuareido or Sinethemba Mngomezulu whichever the attacker will be there.

“They have Letsie Koapeng you never know. We do know that they have a quite number of players Sanele Barns could be one of those.”

Last month, Kaitano Tembo’s side defeated Maswaiswai in a DStv Premiership clash with a 1-0 scoreline, thanks to Figuareido’s solo goal.

Komphela is a big admirer of Tembo’s work at the KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit, and is not taking anything for granted.

However, Komphela made it clear that they would be seeking revenge going into this encounter.

“The coach as well, a great guy, reputable and a fighter. Obviously, he would wish to repeat what happened at Dobsonville Stadium. But we need revenge. Whatever what happened at Dobsonville I’m sure it can be undone,” he added.
