Revered club owner and coach Jomo Sono is set to take his footballing wisdom to Zimbabwe soon.
The revered ‘Bra J’ is scheduled to make a guest appearance at a highly anticipated Zimbabwean football symposium.
Sono will become the second South African football administrator to grace a top-level Zimbabwean football symposium.
First, it was SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews who was one of the speakers at a football symposium held in Zimbabwe’s capital Harare, back in July.
Stan Matthews addressed stakeholders including Castle Lager Premier Soccer League teams and administrators on how best to run clubs and market the country’s flagship league.
WHEN WILL JOMO SONO ATTEND THE ZIMBABWEAN FOOTBALL SYMPOSIUM
This time around, Sono will be the official speaker at a similar event organised by the Zimbabwe Football Forum [ZFF].
This Southern Africa Football Business Forum is slated for the 3rd of November in Zimbabwe’s capital, Harare.
Officials from the highly rated Real Betis Academy and the Zimbabwean PSL clubs are expected to be in attendance.
Front runners in Zimbabwean football have of late, chosen to outsource from South African experts.
This has been done in strong efforts to revamp their local league. Over the years, elite league clubs in Zimbabwe have struggled to make ends meet.
Only clubs with strong corporate backing have thrived, while individually-owned clubs struggle to navigate the terrain.
HOW HIS CLUB HAS FARED IN THE ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE
Meanwhile, Jomo Sono’s club, Jomo Cosmos currently tops the ABC Motsepe League Southern Division.
Cosmos occupy pole position in ABC Motsepe League Southern Division with, two points ahead of Wits University FC.
Wits University FC have won two and drawn twice. With the league still in its infancy, they are hoping to hold on en route to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Cosmos dropped to the third tier of South African football at the end of the 2021/22 season. However, Jomo Sono feels his team has adapted to the playing style of the lower level of competition.
