Ex-AmaZulu FC striker soaring higher in Jomo Sono’s path

A former AmaZulu FC striker is leaving no stone unturned, in a bid to have his club, Zebra Revolution FC break into Zimbabwe’s PSL.

Mkhokheli Dube’s Zebra Revolution FC made a huge stride after winning the ZIFA Bulawayo Province Division Two League title.

The league wrapped up last weekend. Just like the legendary Jomo Sono, who owns and coaches Jomo Cosmos, the former AmaZulu FC striker owns and coaches, Zebra Revolution FC where he is enjoying good strides.

The 40-year-old is a holder of a CAF C coaching license and a BFut [Brazilian Futball] Level 4 coaching license.

Since 2015, he was the Zebra Revolution FC Director of Coaching despite that he was still playing at that time.

And his patience is slowly paying off since he became a full-time coach when he retired in 2021 after a trophy-laden 22-year playing career.

Mkhokheli Dube and Zebra Revolution FC made a big stride towards breaking onto Zimbabwe’s biggest football stage.

And they ultimately gained promotion to participate in the Zifa Southern Region Division One League next season. Dube is delighted with the team’s achievement.

“I am happy for the whole collective effort. It was never going to be easy. We worked very hard to be where we are and I can say that it is a well-deserved achievement,” Dube said.

“There is still a long way to go and much more competitive matches to play against tougher opponents next season. We are a group that believes and sticks to what we believe in.”

Chicken Inn juniors will also be battling for the promotion ticket into the Zimbabwe PSL despite ending the season in second place.

Undoubtedly, winning his first title is a massive stride for the former AmaZulu FC striker who played for giants Highlanders and FC Platinum.

Dube also had a spell in the United States where he played for the Chicago Fire, Michigan Bucks, and New England Revolution.
