Dan Malesela on facing Marumo since messy departure
Baroka FC coach Dan Malesela has a point to prove when he faces Marumo Gallants on Friday, in his first meeting with the club since his contentious departure.
Malesela was placed on “special leave” alongside technical director Harris Cheou after a run of poor results.
The club went on to appoint Dylan Kerr as a ‘consultant’ and Raymond Mdaka as the interim coach. But were relegated from the DStv Premiership the same season.
Malesela has since resurfaced at Baroka FC who are campaigning in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Baroka will travel to Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark for a league clash against Gallants on Friday afternoon.
NOTHING PERSONAL AS DAN MALESALA FACES HIS FORMER EMPLOYERS
“I have outgrown those things, saying I coached this team and all that,” said when asked if he was still bitter about his departure at Gallants.
“I have outgrown them because if you focus on these things, you are just wasting your time. Focus on the matches and let’s see what will happen,” added Malesela who has collected seven out of nine points with Baroka.
BAROKA FC WARNED NOT TO UNDERESTIMATE MARUMO GALLANTS
Malesela has also warned his players not to underestimate Marumo who are just a place below them on the log. Baroka also comes into the encounter from a 4-0 win against rivals Black Leopards last Sunday.
“Look, we look for points in every match we play. What I was telling the players is that when you win by big margins, the bad thing is that you get so carried away that you forget there is a next game.
“We need to be very careful with that, they are a competing side. I saw them when they were playing Orbit and if you underestimate them, they play. That is the difference with them and if you are not careful they will beat you,” he said.
