Kompany reveals how important Foster will be to Burnley moving forward

Burnley FC boss Vincent Kompany has revealed how important Lyle Foster will be to his side moving forward after the striker signed a five-year new deal with the club.

So far, the Bafana Bafana star forward has scored three goals for the English Premier League outfit from eight games across all competitions this season.

Foster joined Burnley in January 2023 on a four-and-a-half-year contract from KVC Westerlo.

Interestingly, the 23-year-old goalscorer became an instant hit after signing for Burnley.

VINCENT KOMPANY LYLE FOSTER’S IMPORTANCE

The club manager Kompany praised forward, Foster, for his stellar displays since joining the side and expressed how ‘important’ he will be to Burnley.

“I think it’s clear and it’s more of a position he came in from a  very small club before coming to us and we believe he’s going to be an important striker in the Premier League,” said Kompany.

“I think when you compare what the benchmarks are in the Premier League, I think that it was maybe a slight correction from our side.

“It was also making sure that he could have him a little bit longer on at the club. We are really happy with that.”

VINCENT KOMPANY ON HOW LYLE FOSTER SETTLED IN

“Well, you speak about settling in we have a 14-year-old at the club doing exactly that. It took him six months but he’s happy and performing well,” he added.

“It’s not only what it has been shown on the pitch. But it’s also what it’s been shown off the pitch.

“His character is dependable, and he’s hard-working. A player who’s there for the team, and also able to compete at this level. So, I think it’s good for the club.”

Kompany will be hoping to see the South African-born footballer continue with his fine form moving forward. It has been proven that Foster is a cracking package, workhorse, and ever-reliable finisher.
