Maritzburg United drop points as Orbit College remain top
Maritzburg United and Orbit College dropped points in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after failing to win their respective matches.
The Team of Choice succumbed to a 1-0 loss against JDR Stars at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday. Maritzburg had a promising start to the 2023/24 season in the NFD after being relegated from the DStv Premiership.
Maritzburg won four games in the league, drawing three while losing in two occasions. They are currently sitting third on the NFD log with 15 points.
Elsewhere, Orbit College dropped points after losing 1-0 to struggling Venda Football Academy at Soshanguve Giant Stadium.
The Mswenko Boys had a flying start to life in the second tier after being promoted from the ABC Motsepe League.
Despite suffering a defeat against VFA, Orbit College remain top of the league table with 19 points with nine games played.
The North West-based side won six games, drew one and lost only two times since gaining promotion from the Motsepe League.
UPINGTON CITY FC CLAIM BACK-TO-BACK WINS
Meanwhile, Upington City FC claimed two back-to-back victories after brushing aside Megesi FC 2-0 at Windhoek Draught Park on Saturday.
Black Leopards ended Milford FC four-game unbeaten run after beating them 2-1 at Thohoyandou Stadium.
Milford last lost a match in the Championship on the 23rd of September when they 1-0 against Marumo Gallants.
The KZN-based outfit had a turbelent start to the campaign which saw them fire head coach Asanda Mvalo.
