KZN ABC Motsepe League side signs ex-Kaizer Chiefs defender

KwaZulu-Natal ABC Motsepe League outfit, Durban Pioneers FC have confirmed the signing of the former Kaizer Chiefs FC defender.

Amavulandlela recently started off their league campaign in stream A in KZN. They have lost their two opening games of the season and currently lie in position 10 with zero points in the bag.

As they look to turn the corner, they have secured the services of the left-back Sibusiso Khumalo on a one-year deal.

The defender comes into the club with a wealth of experience, having turned out for a number of clubs in the SA top-flight.

He played for Moroka Swallows FC, Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport United, Kaizer Chiefs, Ajax Cape Town FC, TS Sporting FC and Black Leopards FC.

In an exclusive interview with FARPost, the club’s assistant coach Thami Dladla highlighted how Khumalo will be of help to their setup.

“I think he will help us a lot in our defensive set-up because of his leadership skills and experience. Everyone in the team knew him very well while he was playing in the PSL,” he said.

“So, automatically team spirit within the team will be high and him having played at the highest level, he will be able to motivate and guide our young players in the right direction.

WHAT’S EXPECTED OF KHUMALO

“The mandate is to help the young lads to improve and become better players in terms of football structure. And what is required from them to be professional footballers and better leaders for the future and the team as well on and off the field. 

“He signed a one-year deal. He has a positive mindset and a passion for football. So, it’s going to be easy for the boys to learn more from him. And he is also a qualified coach so it makes the task much more simpler and easier for the boys.”
