French Ligue 1 side and Turkey club monitoring Kamohelo Mokotjo

A move back to Europe could be on the cards for the Sekhukhune United midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo who’s being monitored by a Ligue 1 side and a club from Turkey.

The 32-year-old joined Babina Noko in January on a free transfer in what was a shock move after being heavily linked to Kaizer Chiefs.

The midfielder penned a one-and-a-half-year contract with the Limpopo side, meaning his stay should come to an end in June 2024.

He had been without a club since 2021 when he parted company with the MLS club FC Cincinnati. Mokotjo has now made 26 appearances for Sekhukhune since joining in January.

He has become a vital cog in the club’s midfield, putting into use the international experience he’s acquired over the years.

OGC NICE AND UNKNOWN TURKEY CLUB INTERESTED IN KAMOHELO MOKOTJO

However, Sekhukhune could be forced to sell the veteran midfielder with the French side OGC Nice having expressed an interest in the player, FARPost has learned.

According to a source, the Ligue 1 log leaders have been keeping tabs on the midfielder. “Remember he has a European passport,” added a source.

Meanwhile, it appears another unnamed club from Turkey is interested in the services of the SuperSport United youth product.

MOKOTJO’S EXPERIENCE IN EUROPE

European clubs’ interest in Mokotjo may not come as a surprise with him having played there for more than ten years. He moved to the Netherlands in 2009, signing for the Eredivisie club, Feyenoord from SuperSport United.

In the same season, he was loaned to Excelsior and turned out for them for one season before returning to his parent club which he left in 2013.

He then played for PEC Zwolle for one season prior to spending three campaigns with FC Twente. Thereafter, he moved to England in 2017, joining Brentford who were in the Championship at the time.

Now, only time will tell whether Mokotjo attends the seemingly unfinished business in Europe.
