Baroka FC maintain unbeaten run under Malesela as Maritzburg lose

Baroka FC maintained their unbeaten run in the Motsepe Foundation Championship under Dan Malesela, while Maritzburg United went down to Black Leopards.

The Limpopo-based side, Baroka beat Milford FC 3-2 at Global Stadium on Tuesday to climb to sixth position on the Championship table with 14 points.

Baroka played five games under Malesela, who was appointed as the head coach last month. The former Chippa United mentor hit the ground running at Baroka after winning three games while drawing two.

Elsewhere, Maritzburg United suffered a slender 1-0 defeat against Black Leopards at Thohoyandou Stadium on Wednesday.

The Team of Choice are on a three-game winless run with their last victory dating back to the 7th of October when they beat Platinum City Rovers 1-0 at Isak Steyl Stadium.

Maritzburg won four games in the NFD, drawing three and lost three times in 10 matches. They are sitting fifth on the log with 15 points.

Meanwhile, Orbit College returned to winning ways after defeating NB La Masia 2-1 at Isak Steyl Stadium on Tuesday.

The Mswenko Boys bounced back from their 1-0 loss against struggling Venda FC last Saturday.

Orbit College had an impressive start to the 2023/24 campaign in the second tier after gaining promotion from the ABC Motsepe League.

They won seven games, drawing one while losing twice and they occupying a top spot on the table.

Furthermore, Magesi FC beat Marumo Gallants 2-0 at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in the Limpopo derby.
