How ex-Baroka defender is settling in with Polish side after short stint in SA
Ex-Baroka FC defender Mlungisi Mkhwananzi has opened up on how he’s settling in at the Polish side Odra Bytom Odrzanski.
The centre-back didn’t last at the Motsepe Foundation Championship side Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele despite signing a two-year contract. He only made two appearances.
Firstly, he had joined another Polish side Pogon Swiebodzin on a free transfer in March before linking with Odra Bytom Odrzanski ahead of the 2023/24 3 Liga – Group III.

According to the defender, everything is going as planned so far, as he’s not struggling for game time.
“I believe I have settled and adjusted to the league and now I’m used to the environment in Poland,” Mkhwanazi told FARPost.
“It’s a very competitive league, different from the previous league. There are a lot of skilled and talented players from all over the world. For me, it’s all about growth and getting more experience as a footballer.
“In the first few matches, l struggled for some playtime. The coach was trying new combinations, but now I’m glad that I’ve fitted very well, and I play week in, week out.”
HOW MLUNGISI MKHWANANZI AND HIS TEAM HAS FARED THIS SEASON
In the current campaign, the defender nicknamed ‘Beast’ has been a key player for the team despite the club’s struggles for form and consistency this season.
The 24-year-old only missed two first matches. After that, he has become a regular making 11 appearances so far, with nine starts. He has only helped them to keep two clean sheets.
They are in danger as they lay in the relegation zone in the 14th place. The side has accumulated 11 points in 14 league matches. Their struggles have seen them only register two wins, and five draws and suffer seven defeats.
