High hopes, as Pitso Mosimane faces a smooth terrain
With high hopes of keeping their winning formula, veteran coach Pitso Mosimane and his Al Wahda face what looks like an easy and flexible fixture schedule in the UAE Pro League.
They face struggling Ajman on Saturday night with the aim of maintaining their winning formula.
In the 14-team league, Ajman are 13th on the UAE Pro League standings, as they are yet to win in all six matches.
Since 2021, Al Wahda and Ajman met on six occasions. Al Wahda won three times and drew on two occasions. They only lost once.
WHO PITSO MOSIMANE AND HIS AL WAHDA FACE
In truth, this looks like an easy one for Al Wahda, as they beat Ajman 3-2 in their last meeting in May.
After the international break, the ex-Al Ahly coach and his men will face Emirates Club on 24 November at home.
Emirates Club are yet to stabilise, sitting in 12th position, with five points in six games.
That fixture will be followed by a date with Al Nasr, who are in position eight. The match is slated for the 1st of December. They will then face one of the top UAE Pro League contenders Al Wasr on 9 December.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns tactician and his men ended their winless run last week when they beat Al-Ittihad Kalba 2-1 last weekend.
AL WAHDA REGAINING A POSITIVE SPIRIT
Even when pressure was mounting on him, Mosimane retained faith that one win will help the Al Wahda regain a positive spirit.
“I understand everyone’s disappointment with the recent results, and we are engaged in a systematic and sound approach to correct the team’s situation and address the mistakes, especially issues related to wasting opportunities.
“If we manage to achieve victory against Kalba[Al-Ittihad Kalba]. We will regain some of the positive spirit that we have been missing for a while,” said Pitso Mosimane.
It remains to be seen if they manage to keep up as they face Ajman away from home.
Their latest win came after weeks of struggling as they lost to Al Jazira in the UAE League Cup quarter-final.
They also lost to Shabab Al-Ahli and Baniyas FC in the league. However, they put themselves back on track after brushing aside Al-Ittihad Kalba.
And the former Mamelodi Sundowns gaffer is hoping his men manage to maintain their winning run. The win over Al-Ittihad Kalba saw Al Wahda leap to sixth position from eighth place after playing six games.
Al Wahda have won three times and lost three times since the start of the UAE Pro League season.
Log leaders Al Ain collected 15 points in six games, six points ahead of the Pitso Mosimane-coached side.
Al Wasl are in second position having amassed 14 points from the six games they played.
