SA legend on what Golden Arrows players are doing right

With Golden Arrows having begun the season as a dark horse, a South African football legend has pointed out what Mabhuti Khenyeza’s troops are doing right.

Abafana Bes’thende currently sit third on the log standings of the DStv Premiership, one game behind SuperSport United who are now second after a win over TS Galaxy in the midweek.

Arrows have accumulated six wins and two draws and suffered just one defeat from nine league matches they have played so far.

They also brushed aside Cape Town City 3-1 in the Carling Knockout Cup round of 16 to secure a spot in the last eight. They are taking on AmaZulu FC in the quarter-final on Saturday at 7:00 pm at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with FARPost, Mlungisi Professor Ngubane said Golden Arrows players are doing well with “no big names” because they look up to their coach Mabhuti Khenyeza who wasn’t a “bad boy” during his playing days.

He believes Khenyeza has taught them how a footballer must live a clean life and refrain from wrongdoings.

PROFESSOR NGUBANE SAYS GOLDEN ARROWS PLAYERS LOOK UP TO KHENYEZA

“You must know the kind of people you want to be in the mix with for what you’re doing to be successful,” Ngubane said.

“You know when you hang around this one, you won’t last and when you’re with this one, you will last.

“When you have many girls in your life, they will destroy you. If you don’t sleep and drink too much, you know the outcomes of those things but you still go for them.

“This is the reason why Arrows boys are doing well. They know Mabhuti wasn’t doing all these.

“He was a hard worker and he’s still a hard worker.

“So, they are looking up to him and they know how he was and went on to be successful.

“That’s why they’re doing well with no big names. They’re sitting in position two while teams with big names are struggling.”
