AmaZulu FC president on Maduna’s future amid Chiefs links
AmaZulu FC president Sandile Zungu has opened up on Siphesihle Maduna’s future with the club amid the player’s exit rumours.
Maduna hasn’t donned the shirt of Usuthu this season and is understood to have been frozen out of the first team this season. He has also not taken part in training under Pablo Franco Martin, who joined in this campaign.
The midfielder was said to be heading out ahead of the start of the current season. However, he still remains in the books of the KZN side.
The swap deal between AmaZulu and Moroka Swallows involving him and Tlakusani Mthethwa collapsed in the last stages. And he has also been heavily linked with Kaizer Chiefs, who are still reportedly interested in his services.
Zungu says there are internal issues between the club and Maduna and elected not to give much. He admitted the future is uncertain on whether they’ll renew the 23-year-old’s contract when it comes to an end in June 2024.

“He [Siphesihle Maduna] is still a player of Usuthu,” he said when he was asked during the club’s media open day on Wednesday.
“He’s training, directed by Usuthu coaches. He can’t be seen at the stadiums, he also can’t be training with the team.
“So, it’s the internal issues within the club that I wouldn’t like to go through in detail on what went wrong. But he’s still a player of AmaZulu.
“The future cannot be predicted because his contract will expire at some stage. Maybe we will renew it or maybe not, maybe he will go to another club or maybe he will ask to stay with us.
“He’s still with us and we love him.”
