Another massive win for Pitso Mosimane’s Al Wahda
After a week full of speculation about his future, Pitso Mosimane’s Al Wahda have recorded their second win on the trot when they beat Ajman 1-0 away from home on Saturday evening.
Facundo Daniel Kruspzky scored the priceless goal for the team, as pressure appears to be easing on the former Mamelodi Sundowns gaffer.
The past week also saw the former Bafana Bafana and Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane surviving a health scare, as he was admitted to hospital after a short illness.
His men retained their dominance over Ajman who they beat 3-2 back in May. Since 2021, Al Wahda and Ajman have met on seven occasions. Mosimane’s side won three, lost one and drew on two occasions.
WHAT THE RESULT MEANS FOR AL WAHDA
And in this one, Facundo Daniel Kruspzky was the toast of the night as he thrust them into the lead after 25 minutes of play.
Al Wahda kept their lead going into the half-time break, where they pulled 11 shots, with three on target.
The result all but eased pressure on the former Bafana Bafana tactician, who has been rumoured to be nearing an exit from the UAE Pro League.
Last week they beat Al-Ittihad Kalba 2-1 to bounce back to winning ways after weeks of struggling. Al Wahda won courtesy of goals scored by Omar Khribin and Christian Guanca.
They had lost to Al Jazira in the UAE League Cup quarter-final first leg after two defeats to Shabab Al-Ahli and Baniyas FC in the league.
However, they put themselves back on track after brushing aside struggling Ajman. The win over Ajman saw Al Wahda leap to fifth position after playing seven games, with 12 points on their tally.
They have now won four times and lost three times since the start of the UAE Pro League season.
Al Wahda is now five points behind Al Wasl, who lead the pack after beating Al Ain on Thursday. They have 17 points on their tally.
With the league still in its infancy, Pitso Mosimane and his men have ample time to fight with the hope of reducing the gap.
Al Wahda are aiming to end their league title drought having last won the UAE Pro League title in the 2009/10 season. They have only managed to win the title four times.
