What Sekhukhune management told Makhubedu after firing Truter

Sekhukhune United interim coach MacDonald Makhubedu has revealed what the Babina Noko management told him after firing Brandon Truter three days ago.

Makhubedu was speaking after their 1-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates in a DStv Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night.

Thabiso Monyane’s only goal on the night was enough for Pirates to walk away victorious.

Truter was sacked on Sunday following Sekhukhune’s defeat to TS Galaxy last Saturday in the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup quarter-finals.

This comes after the Limpopo-based outfit fired assistant coach Morgan Gould and goalkeeper coach Johan Abselon last week before their weekend game against the Rockets.

Makhubedu was then assigned to take over the coaching reins at Sekhukhune on an interim basis.

MACDONALD MAKHUBEDU ON BRANDON TRUTER’S SACKING

“We haven’t had a meeting with the management to answer you on that,” said Makhubedu when asked if Sekhukhune were too quick to pull the trigger on Truter.

“What they told us is that we have to take the team forward with the players. Also, try to get results.

“So, about the moments, they haven’t addressed us. When you check on the media, some questions were asked and our management didn’t comment on them.

“I think it’s because it was just 48 hours between the two games. I think we will have just to wait for tomorrow and the team will make a statement on that.”

Makhubedu went on to say that they have a good team that is well prepared to face any team in the top flight but they were just unfortunate not to get fruitful results in their previous games.

“But otherwise, I can empathise on the fact that we have a very good team. A team that is tactically strong, fit, and a team that knows what to do. That tells you about the results we were just unfortunate in other games,” he added.

“All the teams are ambitious because we all want to do well in the league. But I can repeat for the fourth time, the team is good and well prepared since the first game.”

SEKHUKHUNE UNITED NEXT GAME

Now, Sekhukhune will shift their focus on their next league game against SuperSport United on Sunday, 12 November 2023.

The showdown between Babina Noko and Matsatsantsa will kick off at 17:45 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
