Betrayed agent voices discontent with Ayanda Patosi’s actions

Former Bafana Bafana star Ayanda Patosi is facing the wrath of an agent conducting business in North Africa after a potential deal went awry.

The agent, Yusuf Olajide, expressed deep disappointment and discontent with Patosi’s conduct, alleging dishonesty.

Last week, the 31-year-old player was set for a week-long assessment with an undisclosed Libyan Premier League club.

Patosi was scheduled to travel to Libya last Friday but, in texts seen by FARPost, requested a delay to Tuesday. He indicated he wanted to sort out school transport for his kids and ensure his wife had everything she needed before leaving.

A new flight was booked for Tuesday, but Patosi was spotted training with Cape Town Spurs a day later.

“I made arrangements with Ayanda Patosi to go to Libya for a week trial, with a possible deal on the table,” Olajide told FARPost.

“Patosi gave me a mandate to negotiate on his behalf… It’s a Libyan Premier League club.”

The Canada-based agent fears the South African midfielder’s actions will compromise his relationship with the club. The club reportedly spent about US$2000 [R36 000] to bring Patosi to Libya.

“He has given me a bad reputation with the club,” stated the agent. “My relationship with the club president was tarnished because of his unprofessional attitude.”

Patosi’s decision to train with Cape Town Spurs without informing the agent worsened the situation.

“I was told today [Wednesday] about him training with Cape Town Spurs,” the agent revealed.

“Just tell him to refund the money for the ticket. I’m not forcing him to sign the deal. If he knew he had a better offer, he should have let me know, and I would communicate with the club to stop the visa and ticket processing.”

Patosi has been clubless since leaving Iranian club Foolad FC in January 2023. His departure followed his impressive tenure at Foolad, during which he played a pivotal role in their success, securing both the Iran Cup and Iran Super Cup.

He was a key figure in Foolad’s lineup. He made over 80 appearances and contributed to their victories with 18 goals and 10 assists.

Efforts to get a comment from Patosi were fruitless. He had not responded to an enquiry sent to him at the time of publishing.
