Bafana trio in doubt for Rwanda clash
Coach Hugo Broos has provided the latest injury update in Bafana Bafana camp ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers clash against Rwanda.
Bafana arrived safely in Butare, Rwanda at about 1:35 am this morning.
South Africa will take on Rwanda on Tuesday, 21 November in the World qualifiers. The kick-off is at 15:00.
Broos’ charges come into this game highly motivated, as they commenced their World Cup qualifiers journey with a 2-1 win over Benin this past Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
South Africa are unbeaten in 12 games in a row under the tutelage of the Belgian mentor.
The last time Broos’ troops succumbed to a defeat was against Morocco in Rabat in June 2022.
BAFANA BAFANA TRIO IN DOUBT
Mothobi Mvala, Aubrey Modiba, and Evidence Makgopa are all doubts for Bafana’s World Cup qualifier encounter against Rwanda.
The trio could miss tomorrow’s game due to injuries they sustained over the weekend against Benin.
“At the moment we have to wait for the last training. Mothobi Mvala went out injured, I don’t know if he will be ready for tomorrow,” Broos told SAFA’s media department.
“Modiba was complaining about his knee, also before the game of Benin on Saturday. But he could play. I hope he plays tomorrow.”
Broos continued: “Also, we have Makgopa, who went out against Benin. I think he will be ready for tomorrow. But let’s wait first for the last training in a couple of hours and see who will be 100% for tomorrow.
“I don’t think we can take risks to put a player on that pitch with 75% of his possibilities. We have to be 100% sure a player is fit.”
Bafana are currently top of Group C with three points after one game.
