AmaZulu coach Pablo Franco responds to rumours about Simba SC interest
AmaZulu FC head coach Pablo Franco Martin has responded to the rumours that intensified in the media last week, suggesting that Simba SC were interested in him.
The Tanzanian giants, Simba parted ways with Roberto Oliveira earlier this month following their 5-1 defeat to Yanga SC.
The recent reports coming out from Tanzania have indicated that Simba are looking to reunite with Martin who joined Usuthu at the start of the season.
The former Real Madrid assistant coach was with the Dar es Salaam-based outfit for six months between November 2021 and May 2022.
‘Cijimpi’ as he’s known in SA, says he isn’t surprised by the rumours since he had good memories with the arch-rivals of Yanga. However, he insisted he was committed to the AmaZulu project.

“It’s normal when you have a CV and good history in some countries, good memories of you and now we’re lucky to improve and perform well [at AmaZulu], it’s normal that some teams call and show interest in you to join them,” Martin said during the media open day.
“For me as a coach, I need to be proud of that because I’m being respected and especially for us to have opportunities to work because it’s not easy.
“But I’m really committed to this project. And this is what I can share with the people who are supporting the club, our fans and people in South Africa, in Tanzania, in Africa or in Europe.
“Right now, I’m really happy here at AmaZulu. I came here for a long project, my family is also happy here which is an important part of my decision-making when choosing where to go and what club I want to work for.
“I’m excited for the future that is waiting for us in AmaZulu. So, from there, any speculation is over. I hope in the upcoming months I keep receiving some phone calls because that would mean we are doing a great job.
“But my 100% focus is just with AmaZulu because I’m happy here.”
