La Liga 2 calling: Former TTM midfielder eyes Spanish adventure
A former Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [TTM] midfielder is poised to embark on a Spanish adventure, having been extended an invitation for trials by a La Liga 2 club.
The midfield engine has been a free agent after his contract with the Motsepe Foundation Championship side, TTM ended in June.
The well-traveled midfielder spent two years with the Free State-based side having joined in 2021 from ABC Motsepe League side Steenburg FC of Cape Town.
He has previously played overseas. He played for Turkish lower division side Turklerspor and Allsvenskan side Djurgårdens IF respectively before returning to South Africa.
KGOSI DOLAMO TRYING HIS LUCK AT SPORTING GIJON
A reliable source confirmed to this publication that Kgosi Dolamo has found a new hope in football with Spanish La Liga 2 side Sporting Gijon.
This season Sporting Gijon are doing well in the league as they lay second on the table, six points behind leaders Leganes. They have amassed 29 points from 16 matches. In the past, the club has won five La Liga 2 league titles.
“My boy is going to Spain, he’s played in Turkey and he has played in Sweden. He’s been invited by Sporting Gijon, it’s a team in the La Liga B,” said a source.
“The trial is starting on Wednesday, he’s already there. He was formerly with TTM, his contract ended in June. He played for two seasons from 2021 to 2023.
“It’s only now that he’s getting something, he’s still in the system. He was with Steenburg FC, then he played for ASC Yeggo in DR Congo, and before that, he played for Turklerspor in Turkey and Djurgårdens IF in Sweden.”
WHY KGOSI DOLAMO OPTED FOR EUROPE
The source further revealed that the former TTM midfielder has offers in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. However, he has opted to try his luck in Spain because what they are offering is little.
“Other NFD teams were interested [in his services], but they couldn’t give him the quarter of the money. The idea is to have a season with the team or six months since it’s mid-season. Then maybe get something in Saudi Arabia because he’s 30 years old.
“Those are the ages of Saudi Arabia, get him in the second division that will be good enough for him,” he added.
