JOHN ‘SHOES’ MOSHOEU
The late versatile midfielder had a great tenure with the national team during his playing days. The former Kaizer Chiefs star earned 73 caps to his name in all competitions. He was directly involved in eight goals and scored five and provided three assists.
‘Shoes’ was part of the 1996 team that conquered the continent and won the AFCON which was hosted in South Africa.
STEVEN PIANAAR
The former Bafana captain was part of the 2010 group that played in the World Cup. The retired attacking midfielder played 58 matches in all competitions. He only scored three goals and had five assists to his name. Pienaar had a great passing ability and a good work ethic.
RENEILWE LETSHILONYANE
‘Yeye’ played a pivotal role in Bafana’s midfield during his playing days, establishing himself in the starting line-up. The former Chiefs star donned the SA jersey 54 times bossing the midfield each time he was on the field of play. He bagged two goals and provided two assists as well.
TEKO MODISE
The midfielder nicknamed ‘The General’ also had a good spell with the national team before hanging his boots. Modise also played in the 2010 World Cup. All-in-all, the 40-year-old made 62 appearances in all competitions. He found the back of the net seven times and turned provider seven times as well.
SURPRISE MORIRI
The 43-year-old made 33 appearances for the national team before deciding to retire from playing the beautiful game. Moriri contributed to seven goals, he scored five and provided two assists in the process.
