Vusumuzi Vilakazi makes honest admission on Chippa’s short stint

Former Chippa United technical director Vusumuzi Vilakazi has made an honest admission about his stint at the club.

Vilakazi, who is now a senior coach at Richards Bay, ditched Chippa after spending just two months at the club.

Although he was a technical director, Vilakazi used to sit on the bench alongside coach Morgan Mammila on match days.

WHAT MADE VUSUMUZI VILAKAZI CUT HIS STINT SHORT AT CHIPPA UNITED

But during an interview on Radio 2000 on Thursday, Vilakazi revealed that he was not comfortable with his title at the club which prompted his resignation.

“Even though I wouldn’t like to get into details on why I left. I still respect Chippa United and Chippa Mpengesi, he has been good to me as my former chairman. But I was not happy with the title that I was given and when people are coming with problems to me I need to come up with solutions,” said Vilakazi.

“So if I don’t have solutions I will look like a person who is useless, especially in that title. So I saw so many challenges ahead of me, others were not yet there.

“But I could see that going forward I will have a problem there and there. So that’s why I decided that maybe I am not a suitable person for the title,” he said.

RICHARDS BAY WERE ALWAYS THE FIRST OPTION FOR ‘KANU’

The 41-year-old also told the sports show that Chippa United was in fact never the first option when he left Golden Arrows earlier this season.

“If I may be honest, this was my first offer before I even opted for Chippa United,” he said.

“But some things I can not reveal but on a personal level I must admit that maybe the way I handled the situation in terms of trying to move away from Golden Arrows I think I made a mistake in my decisions.

“Maybe the strategy that I used in terms of where I am going, am I going to be suitable and comfortable there? I never thought of such things and I just opted for an opportunity that was there and wanted to move away from KZN,” added Vilakazi.

“So I think it’s one thing that I must admit that it was a learning curve for me. Yes, I know people saying he doesn’t know what he wants but people are not in my shoes. So I would understand their part but also my happiness comes first and wherever I go I need to be comfortable in order for myself to be promoted in what I do.”
