Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has given an update on when the forward Ashley Du Preez will return from injury.

Before his injury, he made 11 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

CAVIN JOHNSON SAYS ASHLEY DU PREEZ WILL RETURN TO ACTION AT THE END OF DECEMBER

Johnson revealed that the Bafana Bafana international was recovering well from the injury setback and was likely to start playing at the end of December.

This means the 26-year-old could be available for selection when Chiefs face Sekhukhune United on 30 December at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Should he fail to recover fully, he will be back in February 2024 after the AFCON finals that will be hosted in Ivory Coast.

“There are good signs; Ashley is out on the pitch and running a little bit. According to the medical report that I have, he will return at the end of December,” Johnson told the club’s media department.

OTHER KAIZER CHIEFS INJURED PLAYERS

The former Al Ahly assistant coach further revealed that the trio of Keegan Dolly, Itumeleng Khune and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe are also out due to injuries.

“We have Keegan Dolly, Itumeleng Khune and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe all out with injuries. I am not the coach who says that I want that type of player when I have 29 other players.

“The players that have been training their utmost this week will be the players who will go out. I just hope that my other players recover as soon as possible, to give us a headache in terms of selection,” Johnson added.

The Glamour Boys face Moroka Swallows in a league match on Sunday, 26 November at Dobsonville Stadium.
