Cavin Johnson’s advice to Happy Mashiane and Sabelo Radebe

Interim Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson has given an honest piece of advice to Happy Mashiane and Sabelo Radebe who have been struggling to get game time at the club.

The duo, Happy Mashiane, and Sabelo Radebe have off late been reduced to bench warmers at the Soweto giants.

But Mashiane finally got an opportunity in the second half of Kaizer Chiefs’ 1-0 win over Moroka Swallows on Sunday in the DStv Premiership. Radebe was an unused substitute.

The lack of consistent playing time has left the youthful players frustrated, with indications that Mashiane wants to leave.

Moreover, it has emerged that Happy Mashiane is preparing to leave Amakhosi in January’s transfer window. Prior to the Moroka Swallows match, the 25-year-old defender had not featured in a single match this season.

Just like Radebe, Mashiane’ failure to break into the team has been attributed to the presence of players with vast experience ahead of him.

These are Edmilson Dove and Sifiso Hlanti, who have been preferred, even during Molefi Ntseki’s tenure as head coach.

WHAT CAVIN JOHNSON SAID ABOUT HAPPY MASHIANE AND SABELO RADEBE

Nevertheless, the interim Chiefs coach Johnson still sees a brighter future ahead of the pair. And he has given them an honest piece of advice, to avoid being subservient to the other players in similar playing positions.

“I see a bright future. We had a few injuries and they had to put up a hand. For me, they put up a hand at the right moment. Perfectly,” said Johnson.

“They are not that young anymore. They have to put up a hand a bit higher and not be subservient to the other guys.”

Besides Swallows, Chippa United are also believed to be angling for Happy Mashiane’s services. His exit would add to the growing list of players that have been linked with moves out of the Naturena.

In addition, the club is also keen to refresh its squad by letting go of all fringe players in the senior team.
