Khenyeza on what has gone wrong for Golden Arrows

Things seem to be heading south for Golden Arrows who had an impressive start to the season, Mabhuti Khenyeza has voiced his thoughts on where it has gone wrong.

On Sunday, Abafana Bes’thende suffered their fourth defeat on the trot. They have lost three in the DStv Premiership matches and one in the Carling Knockout Cup.

At some point, they sat comfortably in the second position on the log standings behind the log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. They’re now fourth with 20 points after 12 games.

Khenyeza insisted his troops hadn’t dropped their level of performance. He feels minor mistakes, leading to conceding early goals have let them down.

ARROWS COACH KHENYEZA SAYS THEY ARE CONCEDING STUPID GOALS

“You can see we are not losing the games because we can’t perform but one mistake [we concede] the game is off and we need to chase again,” said Khenyeza.

“It’s not like a team that doesn’t perform, that doesn’t play or doesn’t create. But now it’s only that we’re conceding stupid goals and suddenly everything changes, we need to chase the game.

“Players get desperate and then we change our approach of the game.”

However, Khenyeza says he’s glad they amassed many points early and that’s working for them while they’re enduring a bad spell.

‘WE NEED TO STAY POSITIVE’

“I think it’s difficult for all of us but we’re trying, we need to make sure that we believe and stay positive,” added Khenyeza.

“I think at the moment what is working for us is the points that we [collected] earlier in the season. You can see on the log table, we’re staying where we are.

“But again, we’ve dropped nine points, we are supposed to be somewhere. I don’t think it’s good for the club and for us as a technical team.”
