Kaizer Chiefs eyeing Pitso Mosimane’s former man

Kaizer Chiefs are in talks with a man who previously worked closely with Pitso Mosimane and are on the verge of making a key appointment.

The club continues to strengthen its technical structures, having added a highly-rated, high-performance coach, Dr Henning Gericke, at the start of the season.

With Cavin Johnson in charge on an interim basis following the departure of head coach Molefi Ntseki, Chiefs look set to make a key appointment.

The club has been searching for an expert to do data analysis for the coaching staff at the club. A source at Moroka Swallows revealed that Yu-Sha Said had tendered his resignation and was on the radar of Chiefs.

Although they did not confirm the role Said, formerly with Orlando Pirates and Al Ahly, could play at Chiefs, indications are that the club is looking for a specialist in match analytics who will use data to inform tactical decision-making during matches.

The specialist will also be responsible for developing and implementing performance analysis strategies to help the team reach its full potential.

WHEN IS YU-SHA SAID’S LAST DAY AT MOROKA SWALLOWS?

“He has resigned, and he’s going to Kaizer Chiefs,” the source told FARPost. “His role wherever he has worked was to identify strengths and weaknesses to help formulate a game plan using data analysis.”

According to the source, Said’s last day at Swallows is Thursday, and could start work at Amakhosi on December 4, 2023. He has been with The Birds since pre-season and helped with the preparations for the 2023/24 term.

Coincidentally, Chiefs handed Moroka Swallows their third defeat in the DStv Premiership on Sunday. Amakhosi emerged victors with a 1-0 win at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.

Nonetheless, they have had a relatively fair start to the season, having won five games and drew thrice. The Steve Komphela-coached side sits in fifth position.

Said is a highly respected performance analyst with a wealth of experience in African football. While serving under Pitso Mosimane, he won the CAF Champions League and the CAF Super Cup.
