Komphela loses key member of Swallows’ technical team

Moroka Swallows head coach Steve Komphela has lost a member of his technical team, FARPost can reveal.

The club’s performance analyst, Yu-sha Said, recently tendered his resignation and is serving his notice.

Said, who joined the club before the 2023/24 season, brought a wealth of experience, having previously worked with Orlando Pirates and Al Ahly.

At Ahly, he worked with Pitso Mosimane in his first season at the Cairo giants before returning home.
Said’s last day at Swallows is on Thursday, with indications that he is looking to take on a fresh challenge.

“He’s grateful for the opportunity he has had to serve Moroka Swallows,” a source said. “He’s proud of the work he has done together with the technical team. His last day is on Thursday.”

Said’s departure comes as The Birds have had a relatively good start to the season. The Soweto side is currently fifth on the DStv Premiership table after 11 games played. They have won five, drew three, and lost three under the guidance of Steve Komphela.

Said’s resignation leaves a void in Swallows’ technical team, but the club will likely find a suitable replacement.

The Birds are coming from a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday. They will look to bounce back to winning ways when they face Orlando Pirates next Tuesday.

Swallows have enough arsenal to beat any team in the domestic league, having made some big signings during the off-season. They have the former Pirates duo of Gabadinho Mhango and Andile Jali, Dumisani Zuma, formerly with Kaizer Chiefs and Keegan Allan.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF A PERFORMANCE ANALYST

In the modern game, the performance analyst studies their team’s previous match, looking at what went well and what went wrong.

Leveraging data and video technology, performance analysts delve into the intricate details of matches, providing coaches with deeper insights to refine team strategies and enhance performance.
