SA coach attracts interest from Denmark and Sweden

South African-born coach Masilo Modubi has attracted interest from two European countries, FARPost has learned.

Modubi recently left Belgian third-tier side KESK Leopoldsburg after being in charge for three seasons.

However, the relationship between the former Transnet Sports School of Excellence coach and the club management turned sour at the beginning of the current season. This prompted the 38-year-old ex-Bafana Bafana midfielder to tender his resignation

This publication reported in September that the players at KESK Leopoldsburg went on strike due to those developments.

“We stood up as a group. After the coach resigned there was a lot of back and forth called by players. From those conversations turned out to be an enormous support to the trainer,” said club striker Stef Pluymers at the time.

MASILO MODUBI HAS OFFICIALLY LEFT KESK LEOPOLDSBURG

After some negotiations, Modubi returned to the dugout. But things were never the same for the man they call African Pep Guardiola. The former Chelsea midfielder has now officially left the club and was due to return to South Africa due to the ill-health of his mother.

News reaching this publication is that it might not take long before Modubi finds himself in the dugout again. Modubi is currently engaged in talks with an Allsvenskan league club in Sweden as well as the Super League in Denmark.

The move for the Westerlo legend could be concluded before the end of December which could see him working outside of Belgium in 20 years.

Modubi moved to Europe at the age of 18 to join English giants Chelsea. But he was immediately loaned out to Belgian side Westerlo. He has been a Belgian resident ever since and also had a stint with Dessel Sport before pursuing his coaching career.
