Chippa United issue update on the transfer ban
DStv Premiership side Chippa United have issued an update on when they intend to sort out the transfer ban by FIFA.
FIFA imposed a transfer ban on the club following a dispute with Tanzanian international defender Abdi Banda who was part of the club last season.
The club allegedly failed to fulfill the payment of his settlement agreement estimated to be around R1.2 million. The 28-year-old took the matter to FIFA who subsequently imposed the ban.
WILL CHIPPA UNITED SORT OUT THEIR FIFA TRANSFER BAN SOON?
Speaking on Radio 2000; Game On, the executive director at the Lukhanyo Mzinzi said The Chilli Boys were working around the clock to resolve the issue.
“You see this thing of players, it’s not an easy thing to do. You would think that you have satisfied them by giving them an opportunity for a player to play in the country from another league,” he said.
“But you find that when he is not part of the craft the following season, even a goal bonus that you forgot as a club he will take it to FIFA.
“You find that the amount is very much minimal and it’s actually embarrassing to be taken to FIFA for. So we are almost there and I think if you give us about two weeks, we will sort it out,” he added.
THE DEPARTURE OF VUSUMUZI VILAKAZI AT THE CHILLI BOYS A SURPRISE
Mzinzi has also commented on the surprise departure of former technical director Vusumuzi Vilakazi. Vilakazi has since joined Richards Bay as a senior coach to work alongside head coach Kaitano Tembo.
“With Vusi, I still don’t know what happened,” said Mzinzi.
“I know that even on [Radio] interviews he has declared that he got the first offer from Richards Bay. We gave him a good offer from what he was previously on.
“I don’t think for me as Lukhanyo the reasons that he has given us were enough to let go of such an offer.”
