Baroka FC suffer first defeat under Dan Malesela as Maritzburg woes continues
Baroka FC suffered their first defeat in the Motsepe Foundation Championship since Dan Malesela took over the head coaching role in October.
The Limpopo-based side lost 2-1 against the struggling Pretoria Callies at TUT Stadium on Saturday.
Prior to losing against Callies, Baroka were on an impressive unbeaten run of eight matches in the Motsepe Foundation. Bakgakga are sitting second in the NFD with 23 points after 14 games played. They won six games, drew five, and lost three times.
Elsewhere, Maritzburg United lost their second successive match after losing 2-0 to Upington City at Windhoek Draught Stadium on Saturday.
Last Saturday, The Team of Choice was handed a 3-1 loss by Pretoria Callies at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium. Maritzburg occupy the ninth spot on the league table with 19 points after 14 games.
CASRIC STARS THRASH LOG LEADERS ORBIT COLLEGE 6-1
Meanwhile, Casric Stars thrashed log-leaders Orbit College 6-1 at Giyani Stadium on Saturday.
Despite losing to Casric Stars, the Mswenko Boys as they are affectionately known, remained top of the log with 25 points.
Orbit College who gained promotion from the ABC Motsepe League at the start of the season won eight matches, drawing one and losing five times.
In addition, Venda FC claimed bragging rights in the Limpopo Derby with a 2-0 win over Marumo Gallants.
Gallants have had a difficult start to the 2023/24 campaign after being relegated from the DStv Premiership season.
Bahlabane ba Ntwa managed only three wins, six draws while losing in five occasions in 14 games. They are lying 13th on the log after accumulating 15 points.
