Is Ranga Chivaviro making a switch to Young Africans?

Rumours are circulating in Tanzania, with several media outlets carrying a story that South African forward Ranga Chivaviro is on the verge of a loan move to Young Africans.

The reports stem from the fact that Yanga were keen on signing Chivaviro after his stellar season at Marumo Gallants.

Riding a wave of goalscoring success last season, Chivaviro became a coveted target for several African clubs. This was after he amassed an impressive tally of 10 goals in the DStv Premiership and an additional seven in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kaizer Chiefs swooped on the 30-year-old forward, beating Yanga to his signature. The Tanzanian giants are looking to bolster their attacking options for the ongoing CAF Champions League campaign.

Timu Ya Wananchi is yet to replace Fiston Mayele, who joined Pyramids FC of Egypt after banging in 54 goals in two seasons.

Their striking signing, Hafiz Wontah Konkoni from Ghana, has struggled to establish himself in the team’s attack. Konkoni has barely made the starting XI under former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Gamondi.

WHAT IS KAIZER CHIEFS’ STANCE ON RANGA CHIVAVIRO?

After booking a place in the group stages of the CAF Champions League, Yanga are eager to add some firepower upfront.

However, the Limpopo-born forward signed a two-year deal at the start of the season with Chiefs. He has an option of a further year. Chivaviro recently opened his goals account with a strike against Cape Town Spurs.

His agent, Herve Tra Bi, has responded to talk of his client making a loan switch to the Dar es Salaam side.

“Ranga is not going anywhere for now. He has a two-year contract with Kaizer Chiefs. We need to respect his contract with Chiefs,” Tra Bi told FARPost

FARPost can confirm there have not been any talks regarding a loan switch between the two clubs. In any case, Amakhosi will unlikely entertain any talks regarding their striker ahead of the January transfer window. Thus, Chivaviro looks set to stay put at the Soweto giants.
