How Riveiro plans to approach the last four matches of the year

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has revealed how they intend to approach their last four league matches of the year following their 2-0 win over Moroka Swallows on Tuesday night.

A goal from Evidence Makgopa and Sipho Sibiya’s own goal was enough for the Buccaneers to claim the DStv Premiership Soweto Derby bragging rights at Orlando Stadium.

Pirates’ next assignment will be against TS Galaxy at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, 9 December 2023. The kick-off is set for 20:00.

After that, the Soweto giants will take on Golden Arrows [away], SuperSport United [away], and Stellenbosch FC [home].

JOSE RIVEIRO’S PLAN FOR ORLANDO PIRATES’ LAST FOUR GAMES

The Spanish mentor remains confident that his boys will be able to keep their momentum going, as they plan to take one game at a time.

“Train tomorrow, recovery from this game. We have three more games after Galaxy. Congratulations to Galaxy by the way for reaching the final,” said Riveiro.

“And of course, congratulations to Stellenbosch. Probably, they are going to come here in a very good mood and extra motivation usually coming to Orlando Stadium.

“It’s going to be tough. But we want to go game by game because December is going to be key for us. We want to finish the year in a proper position. A position more in accordance with our squad and capacity to win games. It goes without saying.”

JOSE RIVEIRO: ‘WE ARE NOT IN CONTROL OF RESULTS’

Riveiro went on to state that they are not in “control of the results”, but what they do before their games will play a big role.

“So, we have to apply ourselves at a different level during this month. It’s a tricky month as we all know but is an exercise of responsibility from us to do everything in order,” he added.

“We are not in control of the results but we are in control of what we do before the game. We are now in good form and collected 10 points out of possible 12 points which is a good thing.

“I think we need to continue that way but the way to do it is to go game by game.”

As things stand, Pirates are placed sixth on the log standings with 19 points from 12 outings.
