Kompany hints at huge decision following Lyle Foster developments

Burnley FC coach Vincent Kompany has hinted at a huge decision following the Lyle Foster developments.

Foster had to take a break from playing football because of mental health issues in November. This happened a few weeks after the Bafana Bafana star signed a new long-term contract with the English Premier League side.

This season the 23-year-old has been a key player for the club. He has scored three goals and provided two assists in seven league matches.

Following Foster’s absence from the squad, the team’s struggles have worsened. The Clarets have played six league matches and they have registered one win and suffered a massive five defeats.

They find themselves in the relegation zone, 19th from 15 matches with only seven points.

VINCENT KOMPANY SAYS THEY MIGHT LOOK FOR ANOTHER STRIKER IN JANUARY

Kompany says they still have a large squad, but if they get an opportunity to strengthen they will do so because of the unavailability of some players like Foster.

Burnley suffered another blow as striker Luca Koleosho was injured against Wolverhampton and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

“The squad is still fairly large, we don’t have limited resources but I will say this. If we can find a way to improve the squad, drastically, we will do that,” said Kompany when asked about Lyle Foster’s situation.

“But if it’s just to add numbers it’s not what we’re up for, you might see one or two or three names getting in, but they will have to be real needs.

“There’s a couple of positions where we don’t have many numbers but a few positions where we have good numbers.”

Kompany further gave an update on Foster, saying he’s improving and he’s hoping to see him back in action soon. However, the mentor didn’t provide the time frame when the 23-year-old is likely to get back on the field of play.

“I just know that he’s getting good care and is in a better place than he was four weeks ago. So now let’s put it this way, I’m hopeful that it won’t be too long until he’s able to come help up again,” he added.
