Polokwane City’s new coaching changes confirmed
DStv Premiership side Polokwane City have made coaching changes to their technical team weeks after the departure of Lehlohonolo Seema.
The club recently tasked Phuti Mohafe with taking charge of the team temporarily. His first match was a 3-0 defeat against TS Galaxy in a DStv Premiership match last month.
But during the 1-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs in Polokwane on Saturday, Mohafe was joined by a new face on the bench. Former Jomo Cosmos striker Brice Aka was named among the coaches for Rise and Shine. Aka was recently team manager at Gauteng ABC Motsepe League side Cosmos.

Mohafe has since confirmed that Aka is now a co-coach at the club.
“I am not [coaching] on a permanent basis. Brice Aka is coming to assist the team as a coach and we are working well together,” said Mohafe.
“We are co-coaches working together and sharing responsibilities. We have not been told for how long but I think with the young minds that we are we still need to have an elder or someone who has been in this league. Someone with more experience than us to come and guide us.”
PHUTI MOHAFE READY TO TAKE OVER AT POLOKWANE CITY?
The former Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila coach was also asked if he would be keen to take over permanently.
“I cannot say I am not ready. There is no easy or difficult journey. So I cannot say I am not ready, I am ready and it depends on the management on what to do.”
“I am almost there, I think I am 95 per cent there. I still need to be shown certain aspects of football that I don’t know about. Certain aspects of football that I have to learn or need to deal with before I can say I am 100 per cent ready.”
Polokwane City have not won a league match in their last six encounters with four draws and two defeats.
