AmaZulu FC fret over injury blow to in-form striker
AmaZulu FC are embarking on a last run of fixtures before the end of the year with fears over a possible spell out of action for an in-form striker due to injury.
Usuthu have three DStv Premiership fixtures prior to the mid-season recess. They will welcome Sekhukhune United on Wednesday, 13 December at the King Zwelithini Stadium at 7:30 pm.
Thereafter, they face Cape Town Spurs on the 22nd and Royal AM on the 29th.
Usuthu are waiting to find out the medical report on Augustine Kwem, who arrived on crutches during the club’s media open day on Monday. The striker is understood to have picked up an injury.
However, AmaZulu coach Pablo Franco Martin said he hoped it wasn’t something serious.

“I hope he’s not injured, as you can see him today in training, we’re going to see if nothing serious happened to him,” said Martin.
“And we are hoping. We’ll be talking to the medical staff now after training and they said that we are going to check him.
“And if there’s nothing, he would be ready for training because it’s just a kick and a matter of how a player can handle pain. We are hoping to receive the good news that there’s no injury.”
The Nigerian striker didn’t play the KZN side’s last outing against Mamelodi Sundowns when they lost 1-0 at home. He was serving a one-match suspension after accumulating four yellow cards.
The forward has scored four goals in the last three matches he has played in all competitions. And in total, he has rattled the back of the net on five occasions in 14 matches this season.
Meanwhile, George Maluleka and Ben Motshwari are back from injuries and seem ready for action.
