What winning CKO will mean to Mbunjana and TS Galaxy

TS Galaxy captain Mlungisi Mbunjana has explained what winning the Carling Knockout Cup will mean to him and the team as a whole.

Galaxy reached their second final in their history of the PSL after winning the Nedbank Cup back in the 2018/19 campaign. They defied all odds as they defeated Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs with a 1-0 scoreline in the final, whilst they were still playing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

On Saturday they will meet in-form Stellenbosch FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium as they eye their second silverware. Kickoff is set for 3pm.

On the other hand, Stellies will be playing in their first cup final in the PSL history after their promotion ahead of the 2019/20 season.

MLUNGISI MBUNJANA SAYS WINNING CUP WILL REWRITE THE CLUB’S HISTORY

Mbunjana says winning the Carling Knockout will paint a different image to the club. This will be their first title in four years.

“It will mean a lot to us because when people talk about TS Galaxy they only remember 2019 beating Chiefs [Nedbank Cup final], said Mbunjana.

“From that squad, none of those players are in the squad. So we’re a whole different squad, different players, different technical team, but not everyone in terms of management.

“It’s a whole new group that wants to achieve [something], that wants to write their own history. I think it will mean a lot to us.”
