Baroka FC drops crucial points as Upington City continues impressive run
Baroka FC dropped crucial points in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after losing 1-0 against Milford FC at the weekend at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
The Limpopo-based side failed to collect maximum points in their last two games after playing to a 1-1 draw against AmaTuks last week.
Baroka is sitting fourth on the log with 24 points after winning six games, drawing six while losing four times in 16 games played in the league.
Elsewhere, Upington City continued their impressive run in the NFD after beating Venda FC 2-0 at Malamulele Stadium on Saturday.
The Gucci Boys as they are affectionately known, moved to the second spot with 27 points in 16 games played.
KELETSO MAKGALWA CONTINUES FINE FORM AT UPINGTON CITY
In-form attacker Keletso Makgalwa was once again on the score sheet after scoring a second goal for Upington.
Makgalwa joined Upington City in October 2023 on a free transfer after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Meanwhile, Orbit College maintained its position at the summit of the league table after defeating Platinum City Rover 2-0 at Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday.
The North-West-based outfit sits top of the SA’s second-tie league with 29 points. They are two points ahead of second played Upington City.
In addition, Maritzburg United lost 2-1 to Black Leopards at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Friday. Maritzburg remains winless in their last five games in the league.
The Team of Choice last tasted a victory when they defeated Orbit College 3-1 at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on the 4th of November.
