Latest on Kamohelo Mahlatsi’s future
Kamohelo Mahlatsi’s future remains a subject of speculation, with the midfielder continuing to train with his former club, Moroka Swallows.
The 25-year-old’s departure from Kaizer Chiefs in September left many wondering where his next destination might be.
His stint at Naturena proved unfruitful with just seven appearances since joining the club on a three-year deal from the Dube Birds in July 2022. He had joined Amakhosi on the back of a stellar season with Swallows where he was a key player. But, he hardly got a chance to establish himself under coach Arthur Zwane.
The Sebokeng-born midfielder’s decision to train at the Dube Birds’ nest sent a flutter through the transfer market. However, the Soweto outfit, whose owners are considering selling the DStv Premiership status, look unlikely to sign him.
Maswaiswai’s superiors are listening to offers to sell the club over issues of financial sustainability. Adding new players in January is increasingly looking unlikely. “There’s no intention to sign any new players for the January window. Mahlatsi has been training with the team, but indications are that he won’t be signed,” a source said.
KAMOHELO MAHLATSI KEEPING HIS OPTIONS OPEN
Mahlatsi’s agent Mike Makaab confirmed to FARPost that the former South African youth international was still training with The Birds. He added that they were keeping their “options open” with “some interest from a few other clubs”.
A January move now seems a possibility for the talented attacking midfielder who has ensured he keeps fit. Reclaiming his place in the competitive arena, Mahlatsi has set his sights on a triumphant return to the competitive arena.
The former SuperSport United academy product was once considered one of the brightest prospects in the country after breaking into the Matsatsansa first team back in 2018.
