Tenth Motsepe Foundation coach bites the dust

The tenth coach in the current Motsepe Foundation Championship season has been shown the exit door, FARPost has learnt.

Venda FC, Baroka FC, Black Leopards, Pretoria Callies, Platinum City Rovers, Milford FC, Maritzburg United, La Masia, Casric Stars, and Marumo Gallants have all made coaching changes so far.

University of Pretoria, Upington City, Magesi, JDR Stars, Orbit College, and Hungry Lions are the only teams who have stuck with their respective coaches. Interestingly, all six clubs are in the top eight and fighting for automatic promotion to the DStv Premiership.

COACHING CHANGE AT MARUMO GALLANTS IMMINENT

This publication has established that Steven Polack is the latest coach to part ways with a second tier side. Polack was only appointed as the head coach a month ago. He presided over eight matches, only winning one, drawing two, and losing five.

But, despite the poor results, this publication has gathered that the English man felt he did not receive enough support from management. The 62-year-old had reportedly suggested trimming 14 players to reduce the squad to a manageable size. The former DStv Premiership side reportedly has 39 players in their ranks.

A tenth coaching change in the current Motsepe Foundation Championship season is imminent, FARPost has learnt.

MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE FINDING LIFE HARD

The 3-1 defeat against Hungry Lions in midweek was the last straw for the former Asante Kotoko mentor. Another technical team member who is reportedly on his way out is assistant coach Fani Mthethwa. Mthethwa joined at the same time as Polack, replacing the then assistant Rodney Moroka.

FARPost reached out to club Chairman Ditonkana Abram Sello who had initially committed to comment on the developments. But his phone rang unanswered afterwards.

Marumo Gallants have found the going tough in the national first division since their relegation at the end of last season. They are currently second from bottom with 16 points from 17 matches.
