Percy Tau closing in on another milestone in Egypt

Bafana Bafana star player Percy Tau is closing in on reaching another milestone in Egypt with the Cairo giants Al Ahly.

The Red Devils, on Christmas Day, reached the final of the Egyptian Super Cup with Tau playing a role in the win over Ceramica Cleopatra.

The reigning CAF Champions League winners were made to sweat for the victory as they narrowly edged Ceramica Cleopatra 1-0 in what was a hard-fought win.

Al Ahly opened the scoring deep in stoppage time as Emam Ashour forced an own goal from Justice Arthur.

Tau, who has been a standout performer for the Egyptian giants, was in the starting line-up. However, he didn’t have a great performance at all, as he failed to make an impression by scoring or providing an assist.

The Lion of Judah had his fair chance as he came out in the second half after playing 65 minutes.

As a result of the win, Al Ahly will meet other finalists, Modern Future FC, who defeated Fagrie Lakay’s Pyramids in the semis.

The final will be played on Thursday, 28 December, at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium, with kickoff set for 7pm.

PERCY TAU’S TROPHIES WITH AL AHLY

Since his October 2021 arrival at Al Ahly, the 29-year-old magician Percy Tau has woven a golden thread of triumph through the club’s tapestry. Trading the English shores of Brighton & Hove Albion for the passionate embrace of Cairo, Tau has been alchemizing every touch into trophies.

To date, the former Mamelodi Sundowns talented attacker has helped the team to win six titles. These include one Egyptian league title, one Egyptian Cup, two Egyptian Super Cups, one CAF Champions League title and one CAF Super Cup.

In addition to the above-mentioned achievements with the CAF Club of the Century, Tau also won two bronze medals at the FIFA Club World Cup. They bagged the second medal last week.
