Keletso Makgalwa’s return to the DStv Premiership on the cards

Keletso Makgalwa’s time in the Motsepe Foundation Championship might be nearing its end, as a swarm of DStv Premiership clubs have descended upon Upington City, vying for his signature, according to a reliable source at FARPost.

Makgalwa has been a revelation in the second tier this season, his attacking flair and midfield orchestration key to Upington City’s impressive campaign so far.

His performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with top-flight clubs now lining up to offer him a shot at the big stage.

With Makgalwa and Co. putting in good shifts, City have settled seamlessly to life in the second-tier following their promotion to the first division this season.

Upon their promotion, the Northern Cape-based club bolstered their squad with a few former top-flight players, including Makgalwa from Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, Makgalwa’s contract with City is set to expire at the end of the season, and the club is potentially under pressure to sell.

Top-flight clubs are understood to have seen him as an affordable and long-term asset worth signing.

The former Masandawana, TS Galaxy and Moroka Swallows left winger has scored five goals in ten appearances in all competitions this season for City.

KELETSO MAKGALWA ATTRACTS INTEREST IN THE DSTV PREMIERSHIP

Due to his impressive performances and attacking contributions for Upington City, Makgalwa could see himself back in the DStv Premiership come the 2024/2025 campaign.

“I know for a fact that a few DStv Premiership clubs have already made inquiries about Keletso Makgalwa,” a source at the club revealed to FARPost.

“It’s a pity I can’t disclose it now, but those teams are very persuasive. The club’s management is currently taking care of Makgalwa’s matter because he has a contract to honour. But do not be surprised when you see him signing for one of the big teams in the DStv Premiership.”

The player, however, despite recently having been released by a team of Sundowns’ calibre, is said to be happy under coach Thulani Nkosi.

The informant added: “It’s not going to be easy for any team to lure him. The management understands it will be a big blow for the club, and they need him.

“He has an option for a further season. But, he will also decide with the management about his future next season. Nonetheless, the most important thing the club is focusing on, is not to stay in his way.”
