Thapelo Morena reveals why Sundowns should fear Swallows
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Thapelo Morena has explained why their clash against Moroka Swallows in the DStv Premiership will be difficult.
The two teams will take it to the field on Wednesday evening at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:30pm.
This will be the second time Masandawana and the Dube Birds meet in the 2023/24 PSL campaign. They first met in the MTN8 quarter-finals back in August, and the Tshwane giants defeated 10-man Swallows, winning 1-0 on the day.
THAPELO MORENA SAYS MAMELODI SUNDOWNS PLAYERS ARE TIRED
Morena says players haven’t had enough rest because of the busy schedule they have since the start of the season. To add, in the month of December Sundowns had 10 matches to play in all competitions.
“It’s a bit of a difficult one, but as professionals, we know how it is; a day after the game and Christmas mode, we are tired. We’ve been travelling and playing games. Tomorrow will be 29 games in five months. It’s a whole season,” said Morena.
“The most important thing is going to be the energy and aggression. Even them [Swallows], it’s the second day from their last match, if I’m not mistaken.
“But I think we might have a bit of a difficult one with energy, but we definitely sure that we going to give our level best.”
Morena believes they won’t perform well on the field on Wednesday, but insists that they will give their all.
“Not a great game, but all-in-all we want to win, and we are going to do our level best to be on the pitch and deliver.
“We have done our work on [Moroka] Swallows. We know what we worked on and where we can punish them,” he added.
