Moroka Swallows charged by PSL DC

It never rains, but it pours for Moroka Swallows as the PSL DC has slapped the club with charges of misconduct and bringing the league into disrepute, adding another layer of turmoil to their recent struggles.

This comes after The Dube Birds failed to honour their last two DStv Premiership fixtures of 2023 against Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows due to an unresolved dispute between the players and management.

Swallows were scheduled to face Sundowns and Arrows on the 27th and 30th of December, 2023, respectively. As a result of pulling the plug on both matches, Swallows will appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee [PSL DC] on Thursday, 11 January 2024, at 11:00am at the PSL headquarters.

“I can confirm that yesterday Moroka Swallows Football Club was charged for misconduct and bringing the league into disrepute pursuant to their failure to honour fixtures that were scheduled for the 27th and 30th of December 2023 respectively,” said the PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu.

“They will appear before the PSL DC on the 11th of January 2024 at 11:00am at the offices of the league.

“Once that matter is finalised, only then will I give further update on the outcome of the DC proceedings. Until then, there will be no further commentary on this matter as per usual.”

Just three weeks ago when the club chairman David Mogashoa was contacted by FARPost, he admitted that there were delays in paying the salaries of the players, but insisted that salaries were paid in full.

However, before the Christmas holidays, the players decided to down tools as they allegedly did not receive their December salaries.
