Burnley FC coach issues an update on Lyle Foster
Burnley FC coach Vincent Kompany has issued an update on star player Lyle Foster following the club’s 1-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup, third round at Turf Moor Stadium.
Foster just recovered from a mental breakdown he suffered in October 2023, which saw him miss seven league matches.
The mental health matter also cost him an opportunity to represent Bafana Bafana at the AFCON finals that will be hosted in Ivory Coast from the 13th of January.
On Friday night, in the game against Tottenham, the talisman Foster suffered yet another injury setback. The Bafana and Burnley striker was subbed off at halftime when the scoreline was still 0-0.
Kompany revealed that Foster is in pain, but the Burnley coach hopes that the striker won’t be out for too long as he has proven to be a key player for the club in the English Premier League.
VINCENT KOMPANY GIVES AN UPDATE ON LYLE FOSTER AFTER AN INJURY
Kompany is optimistic that Foster will recover in time for their next assignment. They will face Premier League newcomers Luton Town FC on Monday, 15th January, in a league encounter.
“We’ll see. I hope it’s not bad news. I can’t tell you much more,” said Kompany. “Hopefully, with that little bit of extra time before the Luton game, we’ll have some good news.
“I hope Lyle [Foster] won’t be too long, but at this moment in time, he’s in a little bit of pain.”
The 23-year-old has been a key player for The Clarets this season since their promotion back to the English Premier League. However, his progress and growth have been disturbed by injury setbacks.
So far this season, the former Orlando Pirates striker has been directly involved in seven goals in 13 matches in all competitions. The goal poacher has found the back of the net four times and provided three assists in the process.
